🤘 Longhorns get on the board | Top 4: OU 6, TEXAS 2
After Oklahoma's five-run barrage in the third, Texas responded with a solo home run to left center by third baseman Mia Scott and RBI single from designated hitter Joley Mitchell to cut the Sooners' lead down to 6-2.
It was Scott's seventh homer of the year and 10th consecutive game with a hit.

OU's Landry was dealing before the home run, striking out the first two hitters to start the inning. Following Scott's home run, the Longhorns' next three batters reached base.
🤯 OU breaks game open | Bot 3: OU 6, TEXAS 0
Oklahoma's second inning was promising, collecting three straight hits against Texas ace Kavan.
Yet, none of that compared to third, where the Sooners wasted no time in their second time through the lineup, scoring five runs to take a 5-0.
Although right fielder Kasidi Pickering's single to start the inning was nulled after leaving first early and being called out, Garcia turned on the next pitch and hit a home run to right center to hand OU a 2-0. And that was only the start, the Sooners went on to hit back-to-back singles and walk, setting the table for Agbayani to smash a grand slam to left field. It was Agbayani's first grand slam of her college career and second home run of the season.

The grand slam was the first Kavan has given up in her career (60 appearances) and ended her day in the circle. Right-hander Mac Morgan secured the last two outs to end the rocky inning.
❗️Landry cruising through three | Top 3: OU 1, TEXAS 0
Landry hasn't batted an eye through the first three innings, striking out two in the third.
In the nine batters she has faced, the senior has struck out three, forced four ground outs and given up just one hit in 44 pitches.

The Sooners are on the board.
Following third baseman Nelly McEnroe-Marinas' leadoff double to right center, first baseman Cydney Sanders walked and Agbayani ripped a single to right to load the bases with zero outs.
Catcher Isabela Emerling came through in the scoring opportunity, hitting an RBI groundout to third to score McEnroe-Marinas. Texas' Kavan handled the next two batters to stop the bleeding.
Oklahoma is 26-1 after scoring first.

💨 OU turns double play | Top 2: TEXAS 0, OU 0
After giving up a single to Texas catcher Reese Atwood to start the inning, second baseman Ailana Agbayani and shortstop Gabbie Garcia picked up Landry, turning a double-play to hand Oklahoma two outs. Landry got Longhorns shortstop Katie Stewart to pop out to right field to end the inning.
Agbayani and Garcia have been lights out in the middle infield this season with a 1.000 fielding percentage in SEC play — the best in the Power 4.

🔍 Series preview: Title implications and more
When No. 3 Texas visits No. 4 Oklahoma for a three-game series in Norman, it’s not just about bragging rights or a historic rivalry — it’s about who takes control of the SEC title race, and who positions themselves for a top national seed heading into the postseason.
Both teams enter the weekend at 13-5 in SEC play, tied for second and trailing only Texas A&M by a razor-thin margin. With just two weekends left before the SEC tournament, every inning matters.
For Texas, it starts with balance. The Longhorns have firepower throughout the lineup — they lead the SEC with a .359 team batting average — and they’ve shown the ability to manufacture runs and hit for power. Reese Atwood leads the way with 16 home runs and 62 RBIs, while Mia Scott, Kayden Henry and Ashton Maloney are all batting over .425. In the circle, Teagan Kavan (20-3, 1.63 ERA) headlines a pitching staff that ranks among the most consistent in the country, holding opponents to a .205 batting average.
Oklahoma, meanwhile, is trending upward after a midseason lull. The Sooners swept Mississippi State last weekend and come in riding a three-game win streak. Kasidi Pickering (.431) and Ella Parker (.386) remain relentless at the plate, while freshman Nelly McEnroe-Marinas and Isabela Emerling have added timely power. OU has launched 84 home runs, and their pitching staff — led by Sam Landry (15-3, 1.89 ERA) — continues to keep opponents in check.
The Sooners have historically dominated this rivalry — they’ve won 13 of the last 16 meetings and beat Texas in two games at last year’s Women’s College World Series. But this Texas team is deeper, more battle-tested, and just earned its first win at Oklahoma State in nearly a decade.
And yes — it absolutely feels like June in April.
📖 Recent meetings
Oklahoma leads the all-time series 45–13, including wins in the last three meetings, all in 2024. That stretch included two wins in the Women’s College World Series.
Here's how their last six matchups played out:
- June 6, 2024 (WCWS): OU 8, Texas 4
- June 5, 2024 (WCWS): OU 8, Texas 3
- May 11, 2024 (Big 12): OU 5, Texas 1
- April 7, 2024: Texas 2, OU 1
- April 6, 2024: Texas 2, OU 1
- April 5, 2024: OU 5, Texas 2
They’ve split their last six regular-season games, but Oklahoma has had the upper hand in the postseason.
🔥 Power 10 rankings
In the latest Power 10 rankings, both teams remain firmly inside the top four.
The Longhorns stayed put after winning a home series over LSU and earning a midweek shutout at Oklahoma State. Their .359 team batting average ranks No. 1 in the SEC. The Sooners also held steady, sweeping Mississippi State last weekend and showing major power at the plate with seven home runs in that series.
