Mia Scott capped her senior day with a performance no one in program history had ever done before.
In Texas softball’s 12-3 win over Kentucky on Saturday, Scott became the first Longhorn to play all nine positions in a single game — a rare and memorable feat made possible by an early offensive explosion and some help from her teammates and coaches.
“It wasn’t something that was planned,” Scott said. “But the coaching staff went along with it, so I’m thankful for them. I’m also thankful for my teammates. I know the team really fed off the crowd’s energy today — they really kept me going.”
Scott’s positional path:
- 3B: Started the game at her usual position
- SS: Moved over in the top of the second
- 2B: Opened the third inning at second base
- 1B: Shifted mid-inning following a pair of outs
- LF > CF > RF: Rotated after each out in the fourth inning due to looming run-rule possibility
- C: Caught the start of the fifth
- P: Entered the circle and recorded an out on four pitches
Scott, typically Texas’ starting third baseman, moved around the field inning by inning as the Longhorns built a commanding lead. After opening the game at third, she rotated through the infield, outfield and behind the plate before finishing her day in the pitcher’s circle. It took her just four pitches to retire a batter and complete the full nine-position tour.

Texas (45-9, 16-8 SEC) scored three runs in the first and seven more in the second to take early control. That cushion gave White the flexibility to make the positional changes for Scott, who also contributed offensively with a double, a walk, an RBI and two runs scored.
Joley Mitchell drove in four runs and Katie Stewart went 2-for-2 with two RBIs as the Longhorns racked up 12 hits in the five-inning run-rule victory. Mac Morgan improved to 9-3 in the circle, allowing three hits and one unearned run in 3.1 innings.

Saturday also marked the 100th home win for Texas’ senior class.
Scott, who made her 241st career start, also became just the fifth Longhorn to reach 100 career walks. She finishes the regular season leading Texas in doubles and now, positions played.
Texas enters the 2025 SEC Tournament as the No. 3 seed and will open play in the quarterfinals on Thursday, May 8, in Athens, Georgia.
