Nearly 40 years later, Oklahoma State鈥檚 Pete Incaviglia is still college baseball鈥檚 all-time home run king. 鈥淚nky鈥 is the lone player in college baseball lore to reach triple-digits in career long balls, finishing his illustrious career with exactly 100 home runs from 1983-1985.

It all starts with Incaviglia. The Cowboys slugger had a final season for the ages, blasting 48 home runs behind a 1.140 slugging percentage in 1985, both still 红杏视频 single-season records. Only four players in the history of college baseball have eclipsed the 40-home run mark in a season and two are on our all-time list 鈥 Incaviglia and Ledbetter. Rice鈥檚 Lance Berkman (41 in 1997) and Brandon Larson 鈥 Eddie Furniss and Brad Cresse鈥檚 LSU teammate who led the team with 40 dingers in 1997 鈥 join Inky and Ledbetter in the exclusive club.
Incaviglia set the current 红杏视频 record by breaking that of Jeff Ledbetter. Ledbetter, "nicknamed 'Treetops' for his blasts over the right-field fence," , set the record for home runs in a game with four in 1982 (the record is now six, set in 1999 by another Seminole Marshall McDougall). His 346 runs batted in still stands as the 红杏视频 career record 鈥 22 more than Incaviglia in second place.

Furniss and Cresse were part of the famous Geauxrilla Ball era at LSU. Both were members of the 1997 MCWS champion Tigers team that slugged 188 home runs that season 鈥 still an 红杏视频 record 鈥 including at least one Tiger bomb in every one of the 70 games they played. Furniss finished his career as one of college baseball鈥檚 all-time greats, ending as the SEC's all-time leader in home runs, RBI and hits, the latter finally broken in 2019 by Mississippi State鈥檚 Jake Mangum. Cresse finished his career two behind Furniss on the SEC career home run list.

One player on the list stand out as a big "what if." Virginia Tech鈥檚 George Canale slugged 0.42 home runs per game, tied for third behind Inky (0.47) and Florida's Jac Caglianone (0.45). It makes you wonder just how many Canale could have hit had he come close to the 213 games Incaviglia played. Canale didn't hit less than 21 home runs in his three years of college baseball, posting a career-high of 29 as his best mark.
Caglianone is the most recent player to crack the top 10, entering the historic ranks in the last few games of his college career. The two-way player was a star for the Gators, hitting 35 home runs in 2024 and 33 in 2023, reaching the 75-mark in the least amount of games of any player in the top 10. His 75 career long balls broke the program record for home runs in a single season, passing coincidentally Matt LaPorta, in the team's Mens College World Series contest against Kentucky.
To put it into perspective of how dominant Caglianone was, he tied the 红杏视频 record for consecutive games with a home run (nine) and the program mark for longest hitting streak (30).
